There are a couple of differences between mobile and desktop for this process
- On mobile the 'children and classes' section can be found in your profile (bottom right via your profile photo).
- On desktop it is in the 'my family' section of your profile that you need (top left next to your profile photo)
This page of your profile contains all the information about your children - such as name, class and birth month (if you choose to add the birth month eg for sharing birthday parties).
You are put into groups automatically according to your children's classes and year groups. Eg if you have a child in Class A of Year 4 and in Class G of Year 2 you will be in 4 groups automatically (Class A, Class G, Year 2 and Year 4).
Moving my child into a different class
If you find yourself in the wrong group you may need to edit the class details on your profile.
NB: If it is near the time the admins move the whole school up a year then wait until they have finalised this before making changes yourself.
If your child is showing as 'unassigned' it just means they haven't been placed in a specific class yet, possibly because the class wasn't available when you joined.
Or if you accidentally put your child in the wrong class, don't worry, you can move them! You can edit their class by going to 'My Children' in your profile (or 'my family' on desktop). Tap edit and select the correct class from the list. Don't forget to press save.
After you edit the pupil details you will automatically be put into the right class and year group 'groups' on Classlist. You can check these on the Home Page of Classlist.
Adding a Child
Often a younger child might move up to a school their sibling is already attending, meaning you will need to add a new child to Classlist. Simply use the 'Add Pupil' button to add the details of another child to your account. Staff and Ambassadors don't have the ability to add or edit pupil names on your Classlist account on your behalf, you will need to do this yourself unless your school has integrated their database with Classlist.
NB: The only required information Classlist needs is your child's name, class and your relationship to the child - you can omit the birth month if you prefer.
Removing or Editing Child Details
You can also delete or edit these details at any time.
To delete, for instance if the child has left the school, click edit then 'remove this child'.
To edit their name eg they want to be known as Ben instead of Benjamin, click edit, make the changes and press save.
If you accidentally delete a child, do not worry, just add them again and make sure they are in the correct class.
