Sharing the school run may involve entrusting your child to another parent's care, or taking responsibility for another parent's child. Classlist's role is to help you identify parents whom you can contact. Classlist does not vet any of the parents concerned and cannot vouch for them. It is your responsibility to do this, and take any other precautions which you feel are necessary.
Precautions suggested by school administrators, safeguarding officers, and transport officials involved in existing school run schemes include the following:
Step 1 : Check with other parents or your class rep that the parent concerned really is at the school. Check if they have posted a recognisable photo. An admin user will have already authenticated each parent personally before they can join the site, but it is worth double checking their credentials at this stage.
Step 2 : If you would like further confirmation, ask the parent to bring a photo ID for your first meeting.
Step 3 : Arrange to meet briefly in person before the first school run takes place, so you can get to know them in advance without the pressure of a scheduled lift
Step 4 : Make sure the parent has their own child or children physically with them during the school run journey
If anything makes you uncomfortable, avoid making any further travelling arrangements with them, and report back to your Class Admin or school STARS group. You are also welcome to contact us directly at support@classlist.com
