Here is some example text you could send to your Reps telling them about Classlist. For instance you could send it as an announcement to the 'Ambassadors and Reps' group.
We have now invited all school parents to join Classlist and I hope you will encourage all the parents in your class to join. We think Classlist will bring great advantages to our parent community, not least because parents can join without sharing their contact details, making it inclusive to all. It will also enable the PTA and reps to communicate with all parents more easily..
As reps you have a couple of extra features which you should find useful in your role. These include tools for arranging events and sending announcements. You will find these extra features by clicking 'switch to admin' at the top right of Classlist.
- These will reach all the parents in your class or year, even if they haven't joined Classlist yet! This is because parents who have been sent an email invitation but not yet joined Classlist will still be bcc'd on announcements. (These parents can of course unsubscribe if they do not wish to receive future announcements).
- Announcements can be sent to any combination of classes and years.
- Announcements can be longer than group posts, include attachments and images
- They can be scheduled to send at the time you want, so are great for reminders.
Please note that reps can send posts and announcements to the whole school but this should only be used for messages that relate to your admin role.
Events: Arrange get togethers really easily using the events tool to send invitations and reminders, collect guest numbers, collect money and get volunteers signed up to help.
Always use 'Community events' for any get togethers that are for a class, year or group, because parents who join the group after you set up the event will still get the invitation if it is a community event (but they won't for a private event).
Reps group: All reps on Classlist are automatically in the 'Ambassadors and Reps' group, which you will find on your home page. We can use the group to communicate with each other.
Parents list: Classlist provides an up to date list for your class so you don't have to maintain a list yourself. Parents can choose whether or not to share their contact details - but can be contacted via Classlist even if they don't. This makes Classlist inclusive to all families, unlike social media or email lists.
Reminding parents to join - please check the list for who in your class has joined and follow up with anyone you have details for who hasn't joined yet. For instance if you have their phone number or email or a WhatsApp group you can invite them here.
Wondering how Classlist is different to WhatsApp? Here is an article outlining the differences.
