We often get asked “What is the best way to get parents to join Classlist?” We asked some Ambassadors in schools with large Classlist parent communities their advice.
Some of the best are below:
"At any parent gathering, make sure to tell everyone about Classlist. Collect emails and send out an invite that evening, parents remember the information and are much more likely to sign up."
Make sure to inform people about the ways Classlist will benefit them. Mentioning the PTA can cause some people to run a mile. Focus on how Classlist will make life easier, such as sending out invitations to a birthday party. The benefits for the PTA will speak for themselves once everyone joins up!
"Make sure you get the school to put information about Classlist, including a sign-up link, into the welcome pack for new parents."
"Keep an eye out for people that join partway through the year. They are always grateful as it helps them connect with other parents."
Keep discussion on Classlist interesting. Post questions or conversation topics to keep users engaged and happy.
"Be understanding that some people might not want to join. Explain that they can still join the mailing list through the Non-Member feature. This means they will not miss out on important Events or Announcements."
"Make sure parents know about the Classlist App. It’s easy to download and it saves a bunch of time."
Inform the head how much time Classlist will save them, then ask them to mention it in a newsletter. Parents engage well if they know the school is on board. If the school has any concerns, direct them here to ease their concerns.
Try and get one Class Rep from each class signed up. They can then help get other parents from their classes signed up quickly and easily. The more people that use Classlist, the better it is!
