Sharing a video on Classlist

There are a number of ways you can share videos on Classlist easily in posts and announcements.

NB Unfortunately Classlist does not host video or enable direct uploading of videos, as they are enormous files and take up a lot of storage space.

Please use the method below to share your videos:

If you have used an iPhone to take a video:

• Open your Photos library
• select to the video
• Choose the share option 'Copy iCloud link' to copy a link to the video. 
• Share this link on Classlist in a post or announcement

If you have used an Android phone to take a video:

• On your mobile device, open the Google Photos app Photos.
• Sign in to your Google Account.
• Select a photo, album, or video.
• Tap Share Share.
• Under “Share to apps,” select another app to share to. Swipe left to find more apps.
• To create and share a link, tap Create link.

Sharing Videos using YouTube

Videos saved as a web url can be shared via Classlist. 

Decide if you want to save your video as ‘Unlisted’ in YouTube - so only people you share the url with can see it.

Adding a video to YouTube on a phone

1. Record video on your phone
2. Go to your Photos and find your video
3. Click on ‘share’ icon (square with arrow coming out)
4. Choose ‘share to YouTube’
5. Choose ‘Unlisted’ (so only people with the url can view your video)
6. Select ‘View on YouTube’
7. Click below the video on ‘Share’ and copy the url for sharing on Classlist

Adding a video to YouTube on a computer

• Record video
• Go to YouTube
• Sign in
• Click on the ‘Upload video’ icon at the top right of the screen (camera with plus icon)
• Choose ‘Unlisted’
• copy the url for sharing on Classlist

The first time you upload a video to YouTube

• You will be prompted to set up a ‘Youtube Channel’.  This is a place for all your videos to be held in one place.
• You will need to sign in to Youtube with a google account - this can be done using any email address. 
• In YouTube, go to Channel Settings (menu on left), and in Advanced Settings select ‘This channel is for kids’.

Sharing your video on Classlist

• Paste the video's url link into a post in your group if you have a parent account
• or if you have admin status create an Announcement
• Paste in the link to your video
• Send
• Parents will be notified of your new post or announcement
