The school profile page on the admin side is where Ambassadors and Staff Admins can add and edit details about the school that would be useful for parents. Custom settings can also be controlled from here.
Other Admin users will only be able to view this information, not edit it. Parents will view the information added here on the parent side school profile.
The page itself is broken down into a number of sections:
School Logo & Photo (opens a new page)
Automated Joiners Welcome Message (opens a new page)
Set Default Currency (opens an new page)
School Name, Address & Intro
You can add or edit your school's name and address at any time. Notice that when you move the cursor over a section the pink pencil with the word 'edit' pops up. Click on this and it will bring up a dialogue box where you can enter and save information. Please note - the intro section is linked to the name and doesn't have a separate edit button.
The Mission Statement - a note from the PTA
Under the welcome message there is a fully customisable text space. This allows you the freedom to write your PTA/Friends group's mission statement. It's a great space to introduce yourself as a group to the wider parent body, as well as ask for volunteers or just let people know how to contact you.
Helpful Links
Ambassadors and Staff Admins can add helpful links to direct parents to any useful sites they can think of. For example:
- The school's website
- PTA minutes (add a document with a file sharing link eg google docs)
- School uniform shop
- School lunches order link
To add a useful link, enter the title and web address and clicking the 'Add' button (this remains greyed out until you enter the text). To edit a link just click on the pencil icon.
NB: links need to start with https://
School Structure
Clicking on the school structure section edit button is a shortcut to the school structure page where you can make changes.
Post & Digest Custom Settings
Whole school posts - Smaller schools often find it useful if people can post to the whole school whereas this creates too many messages for larger schools. Posting to the whole school is off by default.
Daily digest emails - If you turn on daily digest emails parents can opt to get just one email from Classlist per day. Parents can opt in and out of receiving this in their notification settings and they could opt to turn off all other emails and just receive this one.
Remove Sample Content
When you first create a Classlist account it is populated with a small amount of sample content to help you see how it works - this can be removed when you are ready to launch.
Once you've finished setting up the basics of your school profile and got your website it's time to move on to inviting reps to help you.
