Cancelling a Private Event

The creator of a private event can cancel it at any time before the event's start date.

Cancel an event

1. Open the event
2. Go to the three dots menu at the top right of Classlist
3. Click 'Cancel Event'
4. Classlist will send an notification/email to invitees to let them know that the event has been cancelled - you can edit the wording in the pop up box.

Cancelled events disappear from the upcoming event list but can still be seen by selecting 'cancelled' from the menu.

Any links that have previously been sent out will still work (instead of sending people to a whoops page) and the event will show as cancelled. 

Delete an event

It is also possible to delete private events, however, please carefully consider if this is necessary as the details will be completely lost and any links to the event will go to a whoops page. This can't be undone!

Before an event has been published it can be deleted.  Once it has been published it needs to be cancelled first.

To delete an event, repeat the previous steps as for cancelling.

NB: Once the date for an event has passed, it can't be cancelled from Classlist. It will disappear into Past Events list and can be deleted from there if necessary (deleting will break any links as above).

Tips

You can only cancel private events that you set up.

The sample event ('Outdoor Movie Night') cannot be deleted because this is intended to show parents what the events feature looks like. The sample event will disappear down the event list as you add more of your own events.
