We are so excited to share our brand-new Polling feature! Whether you’re looking to get quick feedback, make a democratic decision, or just want to get a sense of what your community is thinking, polls are a fantastic way to start the conversation right inside the app.
From choosing the next school gala theme to picking the perfect date for a coffee morning, this handy tool simplifies feedback and brings everyone together.
What are Classlist Polls?
Classlist Polls are designed to help you make decisions quickly, easily, and democratically. Available exclusively on the Classlist app for parent admins, they are the perfect tool for:
Scheduling: Deciding dates for class socials or coffee mornings.
Group Planning: Voting on group gifts for teachers.
Event Organizing: Sourcing volunteers to find out who can help with what.
Brainstorming: Gathering quick feedback on community ideas.
How It Works
Creating and participating in polls is incredibly simple, built right into your daily app routine.
Who can create a Poll: Right now, only Ambassadors can create polls as part of our initial rollout. We plan to open this up soon to class representatives and community representatives as well! (Note: Staff members cannot create polls at this time).
Creating a Poll: Just tap the pencil icon in the app. Choose Poll from the admin options to start setting things up—no complicated menus required.
Capacity: You can include up to 12 different choices for a single question, giving you plenty of room for detailed feedback.
Flexibility:
Multiple Choices: Creators can set up multiple choices allowing participants to select more than one answer—perfect for when multiple options apply.
Changing Votes: Change your mind? No problem. Participants can change their votes while the poll is still open by simply deselecting their previous choice and picking a new one.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I specify when the poll ends?
When you create your poll, you will set a specific end date and time.
💡 Top Tip: You cannot edit the end time once the poll is live. We recommend setting a date a bit further out (e.g., 7 days ahead). If you get all the answers you need early, you can manually stop it! Just tap the three dots (...) on the poll and select the option to end the poll now.
Once a poll has ended, the final questions and votes will still be visible for everyone to view.
Can I edit a poll after it is published?
To keep results reliable and fair, a poll's content cannot be changed once voting begins. However, you do have a very short window to make edits right after creating it, provided that no votes have been cast yet. Additionally, you cannot edit polls created by other users.
What happens if I delete a poll?
If you delete a poll, it is completely removed from the feed. It cannot be found, viewed, or responded to by anyone. We recommend only doing this if you made an initial mistake or if the poll is very old.
Can I add pictures or files to my poll?
Right now, adding images or attachments directly to polls isn't supported. However, you can use emojis from your device’s emoji keyboard to make your questions and options colorful, engaging, and fun!

What notifications do people receive about the poll?
A few notifications a received for polls - one when it is published, one when it has closed so you can check back and see the results.
