Most reports about people not receiving emails are usually easy to solve. The first step would be to check your spam folder and then to ensure you have selected the right email notification options for categories of information that you want to receive.
Email Deliverability - Emails going to Spam
We work hard to make sure email providers don't put emails into your spam folder but occasionally this does happen. If you find you are missing emails from Classlist you may wish to add the following email addresses to your address book and send an email to them too.
activity@classlist.com
digest@classlist.com
no-reply@classlist.com
Your email settings and options
Spam
Please do NOT mark Classlist as spam yourself as our system will instantly stop sending you any emails, meaning you won't be able to reset your password! If you think this has happened please get in touch with our helpdesk who will be able to change the spam setting for you.
If you get a type of email you don't want, then you can adjust your notification settings or block an individual from contacting you instead of marking the email as spam.
Notification Settings
If you wish to receive less emails from Classlist you can opt in and out of different types of email messages by going to your profile and selecting 'notifications'. From here you can edit your notification settings to use app notifications and/or emails.
Hidden Email Folders
We have recently received reports that some email providers have added a new secret hidden message file to helpfully store anything that looks like a newsletter. If you find your messages are going here then you can adjust the layout of your email account to solve this. In addition, we also recommend that people use the app to prevent this issue.
What we send by email
To reduce email overload we don't send all messages by email. This is broadly divided into direct communication and indirect communication. For instance if you have created a post and someone comments (direct communication) we let you know but if someone else replies to the comment (indirect communication) we would only send an in app notification rather than an email.
In addition, app notifications go out straight away and emails are delayed by one hour and only sent to people who haven't used the app in that time (depending on their notification settings). This has been designed to avoid the issue of people seeing duplicate messages.
